Learning the foundations

For whom? What for?

For students who want progress on a steady path, one step at a time.. We will choose together student and activity books which suit your needs. These classes will allow you to communicate in all situations and to take level exams if needed.  

How long do I have to study?

Here are my recommendations for optimized effort and results

• For beginners

1 or 2 sessions of 1 hour per week + 1 hour of homework 

• For A2 level

1 session of 1,5 hour per week + 30 minutes on your own

• For levels B1+

1 session of 1 hour per week + 1 extra hour on your own

What will determine my program ?

1. "Beta" Session

We will start on the basis of your existing knowledge of the French language. I will organize a “beta” session to meet you, assess your level and your goals and choose a manual which fits them.

2. Progressive learning

Through regular classes, we will  improve your abilities with progressive learning. I will very often monitor your progress and continuously guide you through the level’s program. 

3. Tailored Learning

Along the way, we will take more time when you need it and we will also speed up when other points come more easily (because sometimes it does!). I will provide as many activities to implement your skills as needed.

What do we do in class?

The step-by-step way allows you to work on the 4 key abilities in each class through real-life situations, funny activities and exercises…

1st Step

Discovering a real-life situation

We usually start the class by discovering a real-life situation (through an audio, a video, a leaflet of a museum, the menu of a restaurant, the advert for a concert…) to work on your writing or oral comprehension. Activities such as right/false, quiz and questions are a good basis.

2nd Step

Grammatical point - Vocabulary

Then, we focus on a specific grammatical point raised by the situation, and explain it. This new grammar rule or this new vocabulary learned each time is now yours!

3th Step

Fun activities and exercises

Now that you've gained something, let’s use it! We will immediately put it into practice, through fun activities and exercises. It’s time to work on your writing and/or oral production skills.

4th Step

Pronunciation exercises

Some sessions will also be partly dedicated to phonetics, because to understand and be understood, both good screening of the sounds and good pronunciation are essential.

Exercises, corrections and feedback

Unlike all these big language platforms and academies, I will also accompany you between  classes. To do that, I will provide you with resources and homework.

For beginners

Once your homework is done, you will send it to me before  next class. I will check it and we will correct it together at the beginning of the next session.

For more advanced students

Once homework is done, you will send it to me asap, I will check it and send it back to you with suggestions of corrections. You will reflect on these suggestions, find the right solutions and send the homework back again to me. We will then discuss the final corrections in the next session.
